Origins
The Ram Brewery in Wandsworth was originally the Ram Inn, which dates back to the 16th century. The brewery was built on the site and was originally called the Wandsworth Brewery.
Founding
In 1831, Charles Young and Anthony Bainbridge purchased the Ram Brewery and more than 80 pubs. The Young family gained sole control of the business in 1883 and incorporated it in 1890.
Closure of the Ram Brewery
In 2006, Young's closed the Ram Brewery and moved its brewing operations to Bedford.
Joint venture with Charles Wells Brewery
Young's formed a joint venture with Charles Wells Brewery to create Wells & Young's Brewing Company Ltd. Young's sold its stake in the company to Charles Wells in 2011.
Sale to Marston's Brewery
In 2017, Charles Wells sold the brewery and wine business to Marston's Brewery.
Pub chain
Young's is now a British pub chain with almost 220 pubs.
