Origins

The first purpose-built bird bath was developed in the 1830s by the UK garden design company Abrahm Pulman & Sons. 
 
Bird baths in modern times
Bird baths can be placed on balconies or rooftop terraces to support local ecosystems. They can add movement and color, and encourage nature into our space.

The Bathing Birds Study, started in 2014, collected data from citizen scientists on bird bathing in Australia. The study found that bird baths are more than just ornamental pools, and that human choices can impact birds.
