Vintage could be older small Masonic trowel (silver) unfortunately the Hallmarks are slightly rubbed so can't read but I believe to be silver with a lovely wooden handle great gift for a free mason or builder 13 cm long

Origins
The origins of Freemasonry are unclear, but it's believed to have roots in medieval stonemasons. Some say that as stonemason membership declined, lodges began to accept honorary members. 
The Grand Lodge of England
The first Grand Lodge was founded in 1717 at the Goose and Gridiron Tavern in St Paul's Churchyard. The four London Lodges that formed the Grand Lodge elected Anthony Sayer as their first Grand Master. 
The Age of Enlightenment
In the 18th century, educated Englishmen joined together to discuss philosophy, religion, and life. They formed men's groups named after the pubs where they met, and these groups eventually joined together to form a Grand Lodge. 
The United Grand Lodge of England
In 1813, the two Grand Lodges in England united to form the United Grand Lodge of England. 
Freemasonry in the United States
After the American Revolution, the lodges in each state formed independent Grand Lodges. These Grand Lodges chartered lodges in new states and territories. 
Freemasonry has had a prominent role in shaping social, political, and cultural landscapes. Some believe that symbols associated with Freemasonry were embedded into the design of Washington, D.C.
